London Delegation & Final Regular Season Game

LondonThe final regular season home football game is Friday, Oct. 21, Shawnee Mission South High School.

Dinner is on your own; there's no Pregame performance that night. We'll use that time at a reception for the delegation in town from London to issue the formal invitation to the 2018 New Year's Day Parade.

Light Show performance after the game.

The order of events:

5:30p - Load the marching band equipment on the truck.
6:30p - Meet and greet our guests in the cafeteria. Nice attire.
8:00p - Depart for the stadium on busses like normal -  We'll change into street clothes for light show.
9:00p+ - Perform the light show post-game. Students should have glow sticks (for taping to shirts, hanging around necks, etc.), heavy tape, and two flashlights with D Cell batteries. They'll tape one flashlight to each leg. Upperclassmen will show newcomers how to "tape up."  No light should be directly facing the audience and, please, nothing taped to the instrument since we have contest the next day.
Leave truck loaded after game for departure the next morning.
Senior Night is now October 28.

Fundraiser: Grocery Coupon Books

Selling Coupon books can be a very lucrative and successful fundraiser for individual students. Here is information from our Coupon Book Chairperson:

The way the coupon book fundraiser will work for students is that the student/parent will purchase the coupon books from BAW LONDON for $5 per book. Since the books cost BAW LONDON $1 per book, the student will receive $4 credit to their Charms account upon purchase and treasurer will log it into Charms. Then the cash that the student receives from selling the book is his/hers to keep, or he/she can choose to deposit it also in their Charms account. Receipts will be provided upon purchase. Coupons expire July 31, 2017. All 3 books have a $5 coupon for $50 purchase so buyer can recoup the cost easily.

Coupon books may be purchased by check made out to "BAW London" (or cash if necessary) from 3 different people/locations:

1)Dinah Humphreys, 8972 Twilight lane, Lenexa, 66219. 913-709-2210.

Guest Conductor

Parents, we have an incredible opportunity for our February concert to host a guest conductor, Pam Smith Kelly, as we perform the music of her father, the late Kansas City composer Claude T. Smith. We want to pay her an honorarium and need to purchase some music. We have raised $250 towards that endeavor but need another $250. Do you own a business or know of someone who does who would contribute toward this cause? All concert band students (9-12) will get the work and perform with this conductor and play some of Claude Smith's incredible music. This email address is being protected from spambots. Helping One of Our Own

SM West Band Supporters, a fellow Band Parent is under going treatment for Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Thankfully it is treatable, but comes with a lot of medical costs. With permission by the family and Mr. Thomas, we would like to share the gofundme account to help alleviate some of the stress of the medical bills for another Vikings Family. Any help is greatly appreciated.
