National Honor Band Selection

11 30 17 National Honor Band Kansans smaller

Senior Caroline Schmidt is back row, center, among the Kansans selected for the National Association for Music Education's National Honor Band.

Caroline, who plays clarinet, recently completed a trip to Orlando, Fla., as part of the honor. She was eligible to audition for this year’s band because she was a member of the Kansas All-State Honor Band last winter. Last spring, Caroline submitted a video audition for the national group and received notification of her selection in June. Caroline is the sole person from the Shawnee Mission District among all national honor groups -- concert band, mixed choir, jazz ensemble and symphony orchestra -- and is the first ever from the district! This makes Caroline one of the top high school musicians in the country, and we're extremely proud of her!
