It’s going to be a busy and exciting next couple of weeks for the Shawnee Mission West Pride Band! We have several performances coming up; marching festivals and a celebration for the excellent work you did at the Mega Car Wash! Bookmark this post so you have it for reference in the next couple of weeks!
Monday
Normal rehearsal. At 7:00a we will begin by bringing out the trees and stumps to practice with them.
Pit will also come out. Everyone has a job in the morning – please be on time.
RED WHEEL is due in the morning. Please return your order forms with everything totaled and checks or cash included in the envelope – with your name on the outside of the envelope.
SMSD Marching Festival – Call time is 5:00p in the band room to change into uniform. Make sure to communicate with your coaches PRIOR to practice tomorrow. Busses depart West at 5:30. Be sure to eat dinner BEFORE you arrive at the band room. We perform first right at 7:00 p.m. We will start the night by playing the National Anthem. Parents, we do need water bottles, chaperones, uniform moms, and certainly roadies. We will be taking the trees tomorrow night, so that needs to be planed into the load of the truck. After our performance, we will stay and enjoy the other SMSD bands. The show will be over at about 8:30p. We’ll be back in the band room shortly after 9p. Parents – admission is free. PLEASE come and cheer on your students…and all the bands. Everyone is working so hard after last year’s Covid challenges.
Tuesday
Normal Tuesday night rehearsal – we need to finish our drill. BUT to start the night we will begin with a hair coloring party! Anyone who wants to see Dr. Thomas get his hair colored needs to be at the practice field at 6:00p.m. Congrats for raising over $12,000 on the MEGA Car Wash! No props for this rehearsal.
BAW Meeting: 7:00p in the band room. Parents, please join us as we talk about the upcoming marching festivals, and Freshman and Jazz concert. We NEED your help to become our very best! Dr. Thomas will make an appearance at about 7:30ish to talk about our competitions.
