On Tuesday evening, November 9 at 7:00, we’re having two brainstorming meetings – one about fundraising and one about recruiting students. The Fundraising meeting will be in the band room and the Recruiting meeting will be in the ensemble room (next to the band directors’ office). Both parents and students are encouraged to attend!

Please log on to Charms at https://www.charmsoffice.com/ to sign up for 1 or more planning teams that we’re forming. If it’s your first time logging in, click log in > Parents/Students tab > School code is SMWestBand > Enter parent area > Your password is your student’s ID number. If you need your password reset, please ask because it’s super easy for us to do.
Under the Volunteers Tab, show Volunteer Needs. I put “Planning Teams” on 1/1/2022. You can also find this under the calendar, go to Jan 1st and click on the colorful handprint.
The teams are: Food/Bev, Transportation/Equip, Publicity/Marketing, Fundraising, Events, Recognition/Awards, Uniforms/Spiritwear, Recruiting, Administration, and Trip Planning.
The goal with these teams is to spread planning responsibility and creativity among a group rather than an individual and to have continuity from year to year. When we have events, we’ll still need all hands on deck to run them.
I hope to see a good-sized group on Tuesday. Michelle Taylor and I will be leading the fundraising planning and Brian Parkhurst and Michael Morris will be leading the recruiting conversation. The fundraising team will be looking at how we can focus our efforts on a few fundraisers that generate a lot of income rather than on a dozen little ones. The recruiting team will be talking about attending Westridge and elementary concerts in addition to brainstorming other ideas.
