Let me start by saying however FANTASTIC JOB Marching Band last Friday! We are so incredibly proud of your efforts and your first performance! There were. a few bobbles, but that was to be expected, but you played very well and marched very fine for our first show! BRAVO!
Upcoming
Monday morning, we will watch the video of our performance, vote for King and Queen nominees, and work on music.
Tuesday – Normal Tuesday night rehearsal. We will focus on learning new drill. We have three weeks to complete the show! Lots to do. Do you have your music memorized yet? No instruments for this rehearsal, just drill charts and coordinate sheets.
The rest of the week is normal.
Pictures and Video – Some of our parents took amazing pictures and video at the game on Friday. Many were posted on FaceBook, but the full resolution can be found on our SmugMug website. Below is a PDF to help you understand how to download pictures. Take a look. There are some GREAT individual pics that I know parents will want on their refrigerator or framed on their mantle! Videos can be found on the band’s Youtube channel. All prints and swag are at cost – we do not have any markup on the prices for prints, magnets etc.
FRIDAY – Freshman Band playing test – memorization of Alma Mater. Make sure you are practicing. The song is only two lines long which means you can only have two mistakes before you have to retry.
Parents are counting the MEGA Car Wash money. If you have not turned in your pledges/donations – now is the time. If someone needs to Venmo their money we can still make that happen. Email Dr. Thomas for the QR Code.
London Information – We will have a full London introductory meeting soon to lay out all of the details. Stay tuned. There will also be more fundraising coming to help EVERY 2025-26 Marching Band member be able to participate.
Parents – YOU are AWESOME! From Uniforms, to Roadies, to Tailgate, to Chaperones, to Photographers – ALL of you who helped on Friday – Fantastic. Think about how amazing it was to have the additional 20-25 parents who stepped in. If Mr. Hupe and I had to handle all of those tasks that you helped with, we’d still be at the stadium! YOU make a difference – every one of you. And you know what, there is still room for more hands. 🙂
Saturday, September 14 – Conn Selmer Institute at Olathe Northwest HS. Students from 9a-noon, parents who signed up for the parent track you also are 9-noon. Students who I talked to and signed up – BAW has paid your fee, but you each need to reimburse them $15. You can bring the money to Dr. Thomas in the band office. I am keeping a list. THANK YOU BAW for your help in providing training our student leaders!
We’ll see you all tomorrow.
