Band Notes 10-11-26

Excellent concert on Thursday.  So sorry I had to miss it! Great job performing yesterday, everyone! I was so excited by your performances, the way you helped those around you, and the encouragement you gave to other bands. You represented yourselves with excellence throughout the day!

Thank you to our Freshman Roadies and all the parents serving as roadies, chaperones, tailgate team members, and truck/trailer drivers—you are indispensable!

Here is what is coming up:

This Week’s Schedule (Oct. 12–17)

  • Monday, Oct. 12: Normal schedule.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 13: Normal night rehearsal.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14:
    • Regular school schedule.
    • Parent-Teacher Conferences: 5:00-8:00**** PM
    • Memorization Grade Reminder: If your marching band student currently has anything less than an “A,” it is due to incomplete music pass-offs. 😊 It is not too late to correct this, but mastery must be demonstrated to a section leader, Mr. Hupe, or me prior to our final performance on Oct. 24.
  • Thursday, Oct. 15 (Testing Day): Testing day schedule—no rehearsals.
  • Friday, Oct. 16 (Game Day, Senior Night & Glow Show):
    • No School / Parent-Teacher Conferences: Please sign up in Skyward for a conference time.
    • Game Day Call Time: 5:00 PM in the band room to change into uniform and load trailers.
    • Dinner Note: Dinner will not be served at the stadium tonight—please eat prior to arrival at the band room.
    • Senior Parents & Recognition: Please report to the stadium by 7:30 PM, dressed nicely. We will take photos of you with your senior students at halftime during introductions.
    • Glow Show Preparation:After senior introductions, the band will have the 3rd and 4th quarters off to prepare for the Glow Show.
      • Student Items Needed: Bring your own glow sticks, clear packing tape, and scissors to attach glow sticks to your clothes.
      • Attire: Please wear dark jeans and a dark t-shirt/top to tape glow sticks onto.
      • Weather Warning: The forecast high is only 60°, so it looks to be a chilly night—dress warmly underneath!

Next Week’s Schedule (Oct. 19–24)

  • Weekly Schedule: Normal weekly class schedule.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 20: Last Tuesday night rehearsal of the season!
  • Saturday, Oct. 24 – Warrensburg Marching Competition: (A detailed movement schedule will be shared soon.)
    • 6:45 AM: Call time at SM West.
    • 7:15 AM: Buses depart.
    • 8:30 AM: Arrive at UCM.
    • If Prelims Only:
      • 6:30 PM (Approx.): Depart UCM.
      • 7:30 PM: Estimated arrival at SM West.
    • If We Make Finals:
      • 10:45 PM: Depart UCM.
      • 11:45 PM: Estimated arrival at SM West.

This competition marks the official conclusion of our 2026 marching season!

Looking Ahead: Concert Band Placement Auditions

Concert Band placement auditions (for all marching band members) will take place immediately following the conclusion of marching season. Audition music will be handed out shortly!
