Upcoming Schedule
Symphonic Band – Seminar Rehearsal tomorrow. Mr. Hupe has already sent out an email to staff to dismiss you right after the advisory part of Seminar. Bring your goods with you. You will be dismissed from the band room.
Pep Band tomorrow (Gold) – It is a single game. Call time is 6:00p in the band room. We’ll go to the gym by 6:30.
Loaner Pep Band Shirt – or other items. If you borrow a clothing item from the band, it is expected that you will wash and dry it prior to returning it. Nobody wants to wear a shirt (or otherwise) that you have worn – and not washed. You must return it to Dr. Thomas or Mr. Hupe to check it back in. If you do not give it back to one of us, it will not be removed from the loan log and you will be charged for it. Please help us continue to help you. This does not apply to the Tux jackets for the concert. Your band fee will pay for the cleaning of these jackets after the season. Tux coats will not go home.
Concert Thursday – All Concert and Jazz Bands – Wind Ensemble call time is 6:00p on stage. Symphonic Band is 6:15p on stage. You picture will be taken within a couple of minutes of your call time. The concert will begin at 7:00p. Are you practicing at home?????????
London – All travelers must fill out a Statement of Understanding. Those that have already done that, we have them scanned in and will return a PDF to each family shortly for your records so you know the due dates for payments, and you have the cancellation policy.
Drum and Bugle Corps Opportunities
Percussionists – you have a couple of incredible opportunities to work with some world-famous percussionists – Julie and Lalo Davila. They will be giving a percussion clinic at Olathe East HS on Saturday Feb. 1 from 9a-4p. This is primarily for students who MIGHT be interested in performing with their resurrection of the Sky Ryders Drum Corps. Regardless, any marching percussion students this would be a GREAT opportunity to hone your skills. For all the details, check the attached PDF flyer. The cost is only $20.
Additionally, SM West will be hosting a Sky Ryders Day Camp on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 8a-5p. More details to come. This camp is an opportunity to see if you might be interested in touring and performing with this this summer. This will be for brass, woodwinds, percussion and color guard. This will be part of the SoundSport competitive season.
I marched with the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps when they were based in Hutchinson, KS. We placed 9th and 12th those two seasons.
