Hello everyone! I’ve missed you all and am excited to see you tomorrow. Remember – Pep Band rehearsals are complete. We’ll see folks in class tomorrow. Plenty of information to close out the year – read on for more!
Please check The Pep Band Master schedule for families wanting to know their students schedule in advance. Students are required for their assigned nights (Gold or Black) or they should find a replacement from the other side of the list. Students are always welcome to play for more than their assigned nights for additional lettering points.
Monday – Percussion Rehearsal 6-8p
Tuesday – BAW meeting, band room at 7:00p, Exec board at 6p in the ensemble room. Upcoming events to discuss: Concert (Thursday) London?, Pancake Breakfast Concert (February), other events.
Thursday – Concert WITH pictures. Wind Ensemble on stage by 6p with instruments, Symphonic Band and Freshman Band on stage with instruments by 6:15. Concert Black – that’s all black dress clothes as outlined in the band handbook. Again, if this is an issue, PLEASE let Dr Thomas, or Mr. Hupe know on Monday at the latest. We can help! The concert begins at 7:00p with Overland Express and will end with the Wind Ensemble.at about 8:30 or prior.
Friday – No B-Ball pep band. District Honor Band students – rehearsals as planned. See attached letter with details. This is a repeat – you received the same information you’re your music. Please discuss with Dr. Thomas this week to make sure all is good.
Saturday – London Packing – 9a-11:00a. Every student (or their parents) needs to drop by the school and pick up your uniform (to take home and pack in your suitcase), pack your hat, and potentially pack your instrument (if an alto sax, trumpet, or larger). You will sign off with your chaperone that you have done each of those items, so we know we are ready to close up the boxes and ship. Chaperones – you will be responsible for the students in your group and will help load equipment into the big boxes. If at all possible, please plan to be at the band room between 9a-10:15a so we can complete this as fast as possible. This should only take each student about 20 minutes.
NEXT WEEK – we WILL go outside and march as possible with the London Group. Come prepared for cold.
Monday – Dec. 8 – Final Full London Group Meeting in the cafeteria at 7:00p. All travelers and families will receive a London Tour Handbook with ALL the details for the trip. This will include daily schedules, flight groups, coach groups, packing list, hotel instructions and much more. We will also have a set of forms from SMSD that require a notary signature. This will also be an official listing of medical needs and provide consent for care if needed. This form will include questions about your:
· health insurance policy name and number,
· medical assistance program or
· military medical care number
· known allergies
This will only be used if a traveler needs medical attention. Once we return home, all forms will be shredded.
