Bravo Marching Band! Great first outing on Friday night! Mr. Hupe & I were very proud of your accomplishments for pre-game and half-time as well as in the stands. Thanks to ALL the parents who helped make Friday night a success – with the truck, chaperones, tailgate, pictures/video, and others I’m not even aware of. Your presence and involvement is incredibly encouraging! Tomorrow morning we watch the video to learn from our performance and then begin to add on drill for movement three!
Performance Grades
I have been updating grades so make sure you are playing off your music and getting the chart signed in the front of the room. I will begin checking it weekly through the end of the season. (Marching Band)
Freshman Concert Band – You have now had three playing tests. I will put in zeroes for the Alma Mater and F-Concert scale this week if you have not completed that test. The Star Spangled Banner was due last week. Therefore, I will put in zeroes next week if you have not turned in that video (in Canvas) by next weekend. Daily, consistent practice will ensure you are able to learn and play the music. That means your instrument has to go home with you. Parents, we have begun working on “concert” music. Their concert, as you have noted from the schedule given to you at the beginning of the year, is on Thursday, October 13 at 7:00p.m. in the West Auditorium. The students’ call time will be 6:30 in the band room.
New Band Uniforms
New Band Uniforms have arrived! Well they will arrive sometime tomorrow. I believe we are having a small group of parents meeting on Tuesday to begin the prep work and then a full-blown uniform extravaganza will begin Wednesday after school and evening as we prepare them to assign to students. Stay tuned for another email probably tomorrow with exact details. Marching Band Students – we will have a couple of days (outside of school time) for you to come in and get fitted and assigned a uniform. You MUST work your calendar around these times – I’m sorry we can’t be very flexible, but we will give you two options to help.
Hollywood Parade
Hollywood Meeting – 7:00p.m. Monday evening (tomorrow). Roommate/ Chaperone selection will be the culminating event of the meeting. ALL travelers and at least one parent should plan to attend. The meeting will last about an hour.
Final payments are due in the next couple of days. Cassie Grodzicki will have information on what your student has earned in fundraising that has or will be sent on their behalf to the tour company.
Let’s have a great week of practice for both the Marching Band and Concert Band! A great week includes HOME PRACTICE. We cannot reach our true potential without consistent 4-5 days a week of Home Practice. Parents – please help us here. A little encouragement from you goes a LONG way!
You are appreciated! Let’s Go Vikes!
