Greetings everyone. What a great weekend. Again – so proud.
Looking ahead to the coming weeks, let’s see what we’ve got.
Schedule This Week
Monday (tomorrow) – Odd Block schedule. See you at 7a. We’ll plan on completing movement 2 drill and then circle back to movement one and do a little cleaning and get some people included.
Tuesday night – we’ll begin work on Movement 3 drill. How about eating at Chipolte prior to rehearsal to support our Dance Team friends! See flyer below.
Wednesday – morning, we’ll work on music for movement 3. It’s been a while since we’ve played that. We’ll help you out.
Friday – OFF – EXCEPT, we have an in-district (SMSD) away game. We are supposed to have a pep band for in-district games. Let’s talk through the week and see if we have enough people to put together a representative group. This will be open to any band member grades 9-12. You will be rewarded with lettering points. We will need to meet at South stadium at 6:30p wearing your band t-shirt. Your instrument will be your ticket into the game for free. We sit in our normal band section. Transportation is on your own.
Schedule for NEXT Week
Next week is homecoming week.
Monday – normal schedule. We should finish drill on this day.
Tuesday – TENTATIVE – evening rehearsal will begin at 5:30p ending at 7:30p. We will finish whatever drill we didn’t finish on Monday. There will be a pep rally somewhere on campus at that time. Percussion, you will continue your rehearsal at 8p until 8:30 and be released.
Wednesday – normal rehearsal this will be a cleaning rehearsal.
Thursday – Homecoming Parade at 1:15p. I will get all Marching Band members out of class at 12:30ish. More details to come. Wear your band T-shirt. All Marching Band members are expected to participate with the band, as teams tend to stand on a float. While other teams are important, the band relies on formations and having everyone present to provide the support that is needed to “hype” the groups in a pep rally. Parents – you are invited to attend the parade. You can join us along the route with hundreds of other parents between West and old downtown OP. Bring your cameras – it’s lots of fun.
Friday – normal rehearsal and then another home game. Call time is again 4:00p. Because of the homecoming king and queen crowning at halftime, the band will present our show post-game. Tell your friends to hang around!
Mega Car Wash – One detail I forgot was how to make out checks. If patrons wish to send a check, please have it made out to Band~Aides West. If they have already cut a check to SM West, we’ll deal with it, but fundraising goes through BandAides.
Freshman Concert Band – You will have another playing test over the Fight Song (Go Northwestern Go) on Tuesday, September 19. After this, we will begin concert music for your concert on Thursday, October 19. That will take place in the West Auditorium with the Jazz Lab Ensemble and Overland Express Jazz Bands.
