Incredible concert on Thursday by the Freshman Concert Band and Overland Express. You should all be very proud. It was wonderful. Enjoy the fruits of your labor – you deserve it.
Here we go into the final strains of Marching Season – our final competition at Warrensburg. The movement schedule is attached. It begins with the band meeting at 6:15a, to load and depart from West. I know it is early, but we have a chance to make finals that we have not had in several years. That is a testament to how hard you all have been working this season. Let’s keep pushing until the very end! Monday’s rehearsal, Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning – that’s it. All hands on deck, let’s give it our best shot.
Tuesday – is the last evening rehearsal.
**Wednesday **- is the last 7:00a marching band rehearsal. Parents, we have conferences this evening, but we (Mr. Hupe and I) get to communicate with you all frequently. If you need to see another teacher, we certainly understand.
**Friday **– no school.
Saturday – See attached schedule.
**Parents – **We want and NEED you to come to the show and cheer loudly for your students! That makes a HUGE difference. I’m not just talking about parents who serve as Roadies, Chaperones or Tailgate helpers, but ALL parents. Your in-the-stands support means the world to these students. You can only get tickets the day of the show for $20 each, or $5 for children 5-10 years old. Indoor only tickets are $10.
Next Week:
No 7:00a marching band rehearsals. A nice, relaxed, week. We do have a home football game on Friday. Call time will be 5:00p allowing the students extra time to prepare their Glow-Show apparel. There will not be a dinner served – eat prior to your arrival.
If you have not purchased your glow sticks – now is the time. You get to decorate yourself from head to toe as you see fit for the final show of marching season. This spectacle is delivered AFTER the game on Friday, October 24. If you choose to use LED’s or some other form of light, they cannot flash nor point directly at the audience. That does not video well and becomes a distraction from the overall enjoyment for everyone. If you tape to a school-owned instrument, make sure to thoroughly clean off any residue right after the show, before the instrument is cased up so to not leave damaging chemicals behind.
We will begin basketball pep band rehearsals on Monday, Oct. 27 from 7a-7:30a, as well as **concert band auditions **during class for members of the Marching Band. I will have music for everyone this week to hand out so you may begin practicing and preparing. This is for placement between the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Freshmen Concert Band members will automatically move up into the Symphonic Band next semester.
Parents – thank you for all of your work! We can’t do all the things we do without your help! Be sure to check out the events calendar for open signups for the Warrensburg show. That is where you can volunteer.
Until next time – Go Band, and Go Vikings!
