Hello everyone. Yes, we just had a post last week, but we have a lot going this week – percussion updates, Band Aides meeting, planning for Pancake Breakfast and a Pep Band just this week!
This week’s schedule
Tomorrow – Monday night percussion resumes as the students prepare to perform at the Pancake Breakfast, and Drum Show in March. ALL percussionists are invited and encouraged to come improve their skills! It takes place in the band room every Monday that we have school from 6-9p.
Tuesday – Pep Band for 8th Grade building tour. All Pep Band – members – I will send an email to staff to dismiss you at 9:00a to come get your instruments. We will either play just outside the auditorium doors or just inside the same doors depending on temperatures. The 8th graders should arrive between 9:15 and 9:25 then you’ll go back to class. No need to wear anything special.
Also on Tuesday night is our monthly Band-Aides meeting. Exec board at 6, with the full meeting at 7p. Please come join us as we look ahead to the Pancake Breakfast concert and fundraiser. We’ll also talk about the upcoming contest season for Solo s and Ensembles as well as the state large group.
Wednesday – Viking View – 8th grade students and parent tour of West with introductory sessions. This even runs from 6-8p. I need 3-5 students to help greet and pass out swag and brochures to the students. Let’s talk on Monday to solidify who is coming.
Friday – Home Basketball vs Gardner. It is a double header with a call-time of 5:30. This is also an 8th grade recruitment night, so we need our best mentors and encouragers to help the 8th graders feel at home. This is scheduled to be the Gold Band.
More Important Notes
Our band equipment is in Kansas City now, so I will expect to get it early this week. If you still have your uniform or rain gear at home, please return tomorrow. I want to get the uniforms sent to the cleaners so we can put that part of the year to bed.
Solos and Ensembles – NOW is the time to select ensembles to begin working on with your friends. You may now choose to play duets – with like instruments (2 flutes, 2 clarinets, etc.). Other ensembles are also welcome, trios, quartets, quintets, and choirs (6 or more players)
