There is so much happening at the moment, we wanted to communicate early and widely so that everyone feels comfortable knowing what is happening.
**Bravo for our first Pack-the-Trailer night for Savers! ** We received 60 bags, and 17 boxes of goods. Keep them coming! Our next open trailer night will be April 17 during Jazz on the Bridge. Outstanding! This has the potential to be a big fundraiser AND you can clean your house! Double Bonus!

There is a sign-up sheet on the marker board in the front of the band room to sign up for a performance time WITH your accompanist. You need ORIGINAL scores for the judges. You cannot perform with copied scores or parts. You must all have originals! The recital night will begin at 6:00pm
Section Leader Application
Section Leader Application forms are in the front of the band room. Any Jr. or Senior may apply for a leadership position. The due date is listed in the form. Applications must be typed. If you are asked to write a letter of recommendation, it also must be typed. All applications and letters of recommendation must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the candidate’s name on the outside. This is meant to help you understand how to apply for a job in the professional world.
Year-End Video
Year-End Video – We need a student to put together the Year-End-Video for the banquet. It will be pictures and videos of various events throughout the year. Someone has talked to me, but I have forgotten who. If you have video editing chops, please visit with Dr. Thomas. A student is preferable, but a parent is welcome also. Photos from the year are on our Smugmug Gallery; original and edited videos from performances are on YouTube – or reach out to Will England for the files.
Help with Music Festival
Parents (students also) – we need your help. This is the largest music festival in the state of Kansas. The Olathe South band parents cannot staff it by themselves**. We need 3-4 parents or students to help by being a door monitor, or runner (someone taking rating sheets to the festival office) or a few other odd jobs.** Please help us by signing up for a shift sometime during the day. If you have a student participating, they will make sure you are available to go and watch. Here is the sign-up link. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0545AFA62FA7F5C25-62754671-kshsaa#/
Please let Dr. Thomas know if you have signed up. If we don’t have the appropriate number of parents sign up to help, we are fined. Please help if you can. Students you can earn Community Service Points (Tri-M or NHS), or lettering points if desired. I have had one parent contact me so far. 😊
Seniors
Seniors – We need senior pictures for the slide show and for the Senior Picture collage that hangs in the band room. The one for the Collage needs to be 2.5 x 3.5. We can use digital photos for the year-end video. We can even scan your Sr. Pic if needed. In addition for the Year-end video, we need a baby pic – anything from literally a baby to 1-5 years old. The kids have fund guessing who the baby pic is before the senior pic pops up on the movie. Please get these to Dr. Thomas NO LATER than April 17 (Jazz on the Bridge)- earlier date.
French Horn Students
French Horn Students take note – The Kansas City Horn Club has a youth division. They are looking for interested students to join the party. This is open to ALL horn players regardless of ability. They give three or four performances including at the Kauffman Center. It is completely FREE to participate! Alyssa Watney that provided the French Horn Sectionals is involved with the group.
