We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday. Short week, but several important notes.
Info Packets
We’re down to just a few folks needing to return their Back-to-School info packets. Please bring that on Tuesday.
I just got a note from the athletic office; there are several parents AND students that need to complete the activities packet in Skyward. Look for Online Verification and student Online Forms. This is all Marching Band members, Dance Team, Color Guard and Freshmen Concert Band members. This is often overlooked, but still part of the back-to-school forms that must be completed for ALL Activities and Athletics. Please look in Skyward.
Fountain City Youth Brass Band Expo
Sunday, Sept. 7 from 1p-6p at SM East HS. This is an AMAZING brass and percussion ensemble much like the KC Youth Symphony but FREE unless you want to participate in the competitive ensemble. Please go check it out! You will get to work with members of the award-winning Fountain City Brass Band. This is for all ages 9-12 grades. https://fcbb.net/community-education/expo/
CSI Leadership Workshop
Students, please bring your $15 if you wish to partake in the leadership workshop at Olathe Northwest, on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9a-noon. Please give to Dr. Thomas in an envelope with your name and “Leadership” on the outside. He will enter all participants to get the discounted rate.
Car Wash money should have been turned in last week. If you forgot, please bring Tuesday or Wednesday. Let’s put that one to bed. As of now, I get to keep my hair untouched. 🙂
Corporate Sponsorships
Parents do you own, or do you know someone who owns their own business that might be interested in partnering with an incredible group of students and parents to make dreams come true? We have a wonderful group of corporate donors that assist us in providing experiences for our students. Sponsorships range from a $100 to $3,000+. Please reach out to Dr. Thomas with questions. You can download the corporate sponsorship brochure and share it with those who can help!
Freshman Roadies
Freshman Concert Band members are needed to help us move equipment onto the field for Tuesday night rehearsals and all home football games and competitions. This is a great way to see what you will be involved with next year in the marching band. You may bring your instrument and play in the stands at all home games. We will feed the students at all of our home games and competitions. They will also get to ride the buses with us as we take to the road. Parents – please ask your student if they are interested. I’ve had 4-5 students express an interest, but we need to make it official with you. If possible, we’d love to have them NEXT Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 6-8p for the rehearsal and then all upcoming performances. See the band calendar for exact dates.
