Good Sunday Evening. We have a busy week this week so there are lots of details below.
This Week’s Schedule
Monday (Tomorrow) – Regular Monday Schedule. SMSD Marching Festival 7:00p. Call time for band students and Freshman Roadies is 5:00p in the band room. Dinner is not served tonight, so please make sure to eat prior to call time. We should be back at West and unloaded by 9:00p

**Tuesday **– No rehearsal for the Marching Band since we had a late Monday night.
Wednesday – Sign-up Deadline for those interested in auditioning for District Honor Band. The sign-up list is on the marker board at the front of the room.
Thursday – Homecoming Parade. Marching Band students please get out of class at 12:30 to get lunch (if you haven’t already) and come to the band room by 12:45. Please wear your Band T-Shirt for the parade. We will march the parade and you, walk back to the band room. The pep assembly at Thompson Park will finish in plenty of time to make it back to the buses at West… if you don’t dilly-dally.
Parents – you are invited to cheer on the band and other groups from West, along Sante Fe drive to Thompson Park. The parade begins at 1:15.

Friday – Game Day! We will have a pep assembly at 10:30a. Pep Band members, please, get out of class at 10:00a. We also have a home football game. Call time is again 4:00p. Please make sure if you are responsible for larger instruments, that you are “in the house” prior to 4:00p so we can begin moving equipment in preparation for the trailer load out.
** Special Note – Due to the Saturday schedule, we will be performing our halftime show FOR PREGAME. Parents, pregame will begin at 6:40p so we have ample time to get our show in and still begin the game at 7p.

** SPECIAL NOTE #2 – Parents, we get the privilege to manage the concession stand for the Homecoming game. We need more help. Please see the sign-up in Cut Time – Events – Oct. 3 Calendar Date. That is where the sign-ups are located. This can also be freshman parents. Freshman students, you can also help here and earn lettering points. The money from this concession stand benefits ALL band students. It is not earmarked for the marching band nor London. Your help is Needed!
Central States Marching Festival
Saturday – Central States Marching Festival (K-State). Movement schedule is attached. It has a map for parents of where to park, as well as our schedule for departures, clinic and performance. Looking at the transportation sheet (page 4), If possible, I’d like to ask the students that have declared flexibility to travel on either bus (early return or late return) to travel on the early bus to equalize the numbers on each bus, so the late-staying bus is not overloaded. We’ll talk this week. Those students staying will need money ($18) for dinner (lunch is provided by BAW). We will have dinner at Pizza Ranch. They also have wonderful fried chicken, pasta, and salads beyond pizza. Parents – entry cost for this festival is $15 per person. Students with an ID is $10 and can be purchased at gate B. Cash or check only. Participants will receive a wristband. Concessions are CASHLESS.
